1509    July 21st. Henry VIII appointed William Poole, Sergeant-at-Arms, as Bailiff of Holsworthy.
1513    July 29th. Edward Stanbanke appointed as Bailiff, sub-let to William Leight.
1518    March 20th. Thomas Linacre instituted as Rector of Holsworthy
1518    Fulk Prideaux inherited Ugworthy.
1518    December 20th. Agnes Shapton, daughter of John Oggesworthy of Ugworthy, died.
1524    Henry VIII let to George Rolle the tolls of the Market and Fairs for a period of twenty-one years.
1524    June 13th. John Arscott instituted as Rector of Holsworthy.
1525    July 22nd. Holsworthy was granted to Henry, Duke of Richmond and Somerset, by Henry VIII, his father.
1533    Henry, Duke of Richmond and Somerset, married Mary, daughter of the 3rd. Duke of Norfolk.
1536    Henry, Duke of Richmond and Somerset, Lord of the Manor of Holsworthy, died, “not without suspicion of being poisoned by the late Queen and her brother, Lord Rochford”.
1536    Dispossession of the Monasteries began by Henry VIII.
1537    1537-1543 George Day (Dey), Rector of Holsworthy. He was brother to the Bishop of Winchester, Provost of Kings College, Cambridge and became Bishop of Chichester in 1543, Almoner to the Queen in 1545, and was involved in the Translation of The New Testament. He also helped draw up the first English Prayer Book. Instituted at Holsworthy on September 22nd.
1538    First Parish Registers prepared at the order of Thomas Cromwell.
1539    Henry VIII granted Holsworthy to Charles (Brandon), Duke of Suffolk.
1543    August 3rd. Thomas Raynolde instituted as Rector of Holsworthy.
1543    John and Joan Wattes owned part of Soldon.
1546    Edward,Earl of Hartford, granted property in Chilsworthy.
1547    Holsworthy had 600 “houseling” people — (communicants).
1547    Supression of Guilds by Henry VIII.
1549    Simpson was purchased by Nicholas and Roger Prideaux. Nicholas, of Soldon, was also known to have purchased Mores, Furse Park, Downe, Lake and Burscott.
1549    Archbishop Cramner drew up the first English Prayer Book.
1550    Nicholas Prideaux (second of this name) born. Was later Knighted.
1553    Three bells, Little, Middle and Great were in Holsworthy Church Tower.
1553    John Botresse had Chilsworthy. It was then purchased by Richard Chamond and Roger Prideaux.

1555    Beginning of persecution of Protestants.
1560    Edward Thorne bought Northrude and Southrude from Elizens Warwicke of Holberton.
1560    Prideaux Family held the Manor of Holsworthy from this year to 1725. They resided at Soldon, which had been built by them.
1560    January 28th. Thomas Kent instituted as Rector of Holsworthy.

1571    October 19th. Humphrey Thorne of Upcott had Thorne, North and South Rhude, and property in Pancrasweek and Sheepwash.
1573    Record of John Cole, a miller,In Holsworthy. Presumably the derivation of Coles Mill.
1574    John Olde appointed as Parish Clerk for Holsworthy.
1576    This date is shown on the bottom of the cover of the Chalice in Holsworthy Church
1579    March 27th. William Hurst conveyed Manworthy Manor and other estates to John and Ortho Peter
1579    William Cavell instituted as Rector of Holsworthy

1581    Roger Prideaux, Lord of the Manor of Holsworthy, died. He was Sheriff of Devon in 1577, and Escheator for Devon and Cornwall in 1550.
1583    July 15th. William Howpill conveyed Manworthy Manor to William Hurst (3rd).
1584    Andrew Holland sold Manor of Holsworthy to John Davie of Creedy.
1587    October 7th. Humphrey Thorne settled his estates on son Bartholomew.
