Holsworthy and District Lions’ annual speed-pool competition was held on Saturday 3rd May in various pubs and clubs around Holsworthy. Teams consist of six players who take it in turns to attempt to pot balls. The winning team is the team that can pot the most balls in exactly one hour.

This year. Seven teams from around Holsworthy entered: the White Hart Hotel in Holsworthy; the Village Inn in Ashwater; Holsworthy Football Club; the Bridge Inn in Bridgerule; Holsworthy Social Club; Bradworthy Social Club and ‘The Shed’ from Holsworthy.

For the second year running, the winners were The Shed who pocketed 512 balls. The highest male individual scorer was Alan Colwill from Holsworthy Football Club with 102 balls. The highest lady scorer was Sam Down from Holsworthy Social Club with 52 balls.

Holsworthy Social Club (managed by Sam Down) also raised the most sponsorship money for the second year running with £450. The money raised will be used by the Lions to fund their annual Disabled Fun-day in November. Club President Ray Fursdon expressed his sincere thanks to all those who took part in this year’s competition.
