Holsworthy Lions make donations to organisations big and small
Lion Tam Hutchings, the Holsworthy Lion and some children from the Primary School
Holsworthy & District Lions have been helping people in the community for nearly three decades now. In the last two weeks they again showed the diversity of the organisations that they try to help. On the one hand, the Lions made a donation of £200 to Shebbear Primary School. The money donated is going to be used to build a new decking area in the garden for the pre-school and reception classes. At present the area is unusable most of the time as it is so muddy. With the help of the donation the children will be able to enjoy the small outside area all year round.
On the other hand, the Lions also made a donation of £400 to Children’s Hospice South West. The charity provides hospice care for children with life-limiting conditions and their whole family across the south west. The care is wide-ranging but includes respite and short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care. They operate three hospices at Little Bridge House in North Devon, Charlton Farm in North Somerset and Little Harbour in mid Cornwall. The donation was collected by Josh Allan at the Lions’ meeting on 4 May.
