Holsworthy & District Lions held their annual duck race at the Bridgerule Carnival on Saturday 2nd August. One thousand yellow, plastic ducks fought their way down a sectioned-off course on the River Tamar in order to claim the first prize of a new mountain bike for the lucky winner. The second and third prizes of a £30 voucher for the Bickford Arms, and a family ticket for the Milky Way were both donated to the Lions by the local businesses. Over £850 was raised by the Lions which will be given away to local charities and used to help fund Lions’ Disabled Fun-day in November. The first prize of the mountain bike was presented to Stuart Slee by Lions’ President Richard Hutchings on 2nd September.
