The annual competition took place in the town square on Sunday 7th July as part of the St Peter's Fair Family Day. Eleven local children representing Holsworthy, Clawton and Ashwater Primary Schools took part in a very close competition that was eventually won by year 6 student Lizzy Flaherty from Clawton Primary School. Second place went to year 3 student Amelia Wilson from Holsworthy Primary School. The judge's panel of Ray Fursdon (Lions President), Phil Cole (Portreeve) and Roger Dunstan (Town Crier) all said that judging was very difficult this year due to the high standard shown by all of the children. They also gave a special mention to Tom Simpkins-Wright, who only missed out on the top two places by a solitary point.
