Holsworthy & District Lions hosted their Senior Citizens’ lunch in Holsworthy Memorial Hall on Saturday 23rd January. A total of 116 guests enjoyed a three course dinner and drink from the bar at what is, traditionally, the Lions first major event of the year. Entertainment on the piano was provided by Mr & Mrs Parfitt while the guests enjoyed a meal comprising of vegetable soup, roast beef with all the trimmings, and apple pie with Devonshire cream.

Club President Brian Withall said that, as always, the day had been fantastic. It is lovely to see so many old friends getting together and enjoying a good meal and a chat. He went on to thank Jon Hutchings of the White Hart Hotel in Holsworthy for all his hard work in the kitchen on the day, Lions’ wives Annette Hutchings and Lyn Fursdon for their help serving the guests, and the many and various shops in Holsworthy for donating prizes for the raffle that followed the meal.

Pictured are Lions: Jeff Wyatt, Keith Musker, Steve Davis, Phil Cole, Ray Vanstone, Peter Brown, Andy Townsend, Brian Withall, John Cottle, Robin Mitchell; together with Chef Jon Hutchings. Other Lions present but not pictured were: Richard Hutchings, Andy King, Ted Flaherty and Ray Fursdon.
