Holsworthy Lions celebrate 40th birthday
Holsworthy & District Lions celebrated their 40th birthday at their charter dinner on Saturday 23rd April. The club was founded in 1975 but didn’t receive its charter until April 1976. The dinner-dance was attended by various past and present members of the club together with many other guests.
In his traditional after dinner speech, club President Brian Withall informed all guests that the club had raised just over £5000 in the past year and have already given over £3000 of that away to local and national charities and other local good causes. The rest of the money raised being used to fund the annual Lions disabled ‘Fun Day’, children’s Christmas party and senior citizens’ lunch. He went on to say that Lions International is the largest community service organisation in the world with more than 1.5 million members world-wide spread over some 210 countries.
After a lovely dinner, the guests danced until the early hours to local band Crazy Mama.
